| The
Cenotes are natural caves or sink holes which provide breathtaking views, coolness
and exceptional geological interest. There are 3000 such caves in the province
of Yucatan, where Tulum lies.
| Only
1400 of these caves have been studied and explored. There are different types
of Cenotes: some of them are completely underground, some are semi underground,
some are at sea level and some are open wells.
| Most
of the explored ones can be visited, but it is essential that you go there with
an official guide, since they might be dangerous.
